Privacy policy

What personal data we collect, why, and your rights.

Last updated October 25, 2026

The Daily Summit is built to collect as little personal data as possible. You can read every article without an account, and we do not use advertising or tracking cookies. This policy explains what data is processed when you use the site and what you can do about it.

Who is responsible

The site is run by The Daily Summit, operated by an individual based in Pakistan. For anything about your data, email hello@thedailysummit.com.

What we collect and why

  • Technical data when you visit. Our hosting and security provider, Cloudflare, processes your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and similar technical data to deliver the site, keep it secure and stop abuse. This is needed to run the site (our legitimate interest).
  • Images. Some photos are loaded from Unsplash’s image servers, which receive your IP address and browser details when the image loads.
  • Newsletter (when it launches). If you subscribe, we store your email address and when you signed up, so we can send the briefing. This is based on your consent; you can unsubscribe from any email.
  • Emails you send us. If you contact us, we keep your message and email address to reply and to keep a record of corrections and complaints.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising profiles.

Storage on your device

We do not set cookies. The site saves one small value in your browser’s local storage: the time of your last visit, so it can mark stories that are new since then. It never leaves your device. See our cookie policy.

Who processes data for us

  • Cloudflare: hosting, content delivery and security.
  • Unsplash: delivery of some photos.
  • Supabase and an email provider: storing subscribers and sending the newsletter, once it launches.

These providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States and the European Union, under their own security and data-protection commitments.

How long we keep it

  • Newsletter details: until you unsubscribe, then deleted within 30 days.
  • Emails to us: up to 2 years, longer if needed for a legal claim or correction record.
  • Technical logs: kept by Cloudflare for short periods under its own policies.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, or get a copy of it. Readers in the UK and European Union have these rights under the GDPR, and may complain to their local data-protection authority. To use any of these rights, email hello@thedailysummit.com. We will reply within 30 days.

Children

The site is a general news service and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we add analytics, advertising or new services, we will update this policy before they go live. The date at the top shows the latest version.
