Editorial policy
The standards behind every story we publish.
Last updated October 2026
Accuracy
We report what can be verified. Each story draws on several independent sources (news agencies, official statements, public records and established outlets), and we name and link them at the end of the article. Where sources disagree or facts are still unclear, we say so.
Fairness and independence
We aim to present the main sides of a story fairly and avoid loaded language. No advertiser, company or political group decides what we cover or how. Analysis and explainers are clearly labelled and kept separate from straight news.
How stories are produced
Our newsroom uses AI tools to help research, summarise sources and draft stories. Every article is built on named, linked sources and checked against our standards before and after publication. We never invent quotes, sources or events, and we never reproduce other publishers’ articles or photos. More detail: how we use AI.
Updates
Developing stories are updated as new information arrives. Articles show both their original publication time and the time of the latest significant update.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it promptly and transparently. See our corrections policy.
Images
We use licensed or freely licensed photos, credited in the caption. Illustrations created with AI are labelled as such and are never used to depict real events as if they were photographs.
